Chemosynthesis – the key to life on a hydrothermal vent

You may know that in surface waters where sunlight can penetrate, organisms are able to photosynthesise, gaining energy from sunlight and these organisms support a diverse food chain of animals. In the following weeks my blog will explore this mystery further and will delve into the special relationship between Rimicaris exoculata  shrimp and bacteria. Enjoy and see you soon.
