Sea Ice Importance

Sea Ice is of extreme important for the world and of ecological importance for this environment. It has vital global role in the regulation and control of the earth surface heating balance and thermohaline circulation. Ice also has a vital role in providing a suitable habitat for many creatures, like safe location for seals to breed and a substrate for ice algae to grow on. The image below illustrates all the species living in the Arctic that would not survive without sea ice.
