Define Extreme

Every marine environment can be classed as an extreme habitat. The Marine environment has a high variety of extreme conditions from salinity extremes, temperature extremes, pressure increases, and nutrient deficiencies. The coldest temperature extreme is at the highest latitude, the NORTH and SOUTH Poles.  The Arctic is an isotherm encircling and therefore has a circular line where all the points connected by it have the same temperature at a given time or average over a given period. This habitat incorporates the Arctic Ocean and the lands of Greenland; Svalbard; Iceland; Canada; Alaska and the islands of Russia.
